Sturgis Enrollment Checklist

Congratulations on your acceptance for the 2026-27 school year for Sturgis Charter Public School. We are excited to welcome you to the Sturgis community. We have created this checklist to help you prepare for the school year.

Academics: Review the course selections and the World of IB.
Student Life: Sturgis Clubs and STAGE (Theatre program)
Sports: list of sports offered. Fall sports begin one week before school, so make sure you register ahead of time.
Event Calendar: Check out our East and West campus pages for upcoming events. Come to a sports game, a theater production or other Sturgis events.
Contact Info: Make sure you keep us up to date with your contact information. If you have a new email or phone number, please reach out to Joann Johnson Prygocki, our registrar: jjohnson@sturgischarterschool.org
Transportation: Please start addressing your student’s transportation issues. There is a charter bus to Sturgis from Plymouth, and the Cape Cod Regional Transit buses stop at both campuses. Barnstable students may get transportation on the Five Star school buses. To express interest in the Bridge Bus (Plymouth) or the Dart Bus (Outer Cape), fill out the appropriate form.

Important Dates:

Monday, February 9, 3:45-5:00: Welcome Event. Come to our Community Center at 529 Main Street to learn more about our school. This event is set up like a job fair. Visit booths to learn more about academics, athletics, transportation, logistics, and much more.

August, 2026 New Student Orientation. Hosted by the Student Council. Date TBA.

Other Information:

School hours are 8:20-3:10.
Summer Reading: Summer Reading Information will be posted here in the spring.
Chromebooks: If your student does not have a Chromebook, the school will supply one.
Required Devices: See mandatory Graphing calculator.
Translation: Does your family need information translated into another language? Let us know by emailing: emasil@sturgischarterschool.org.
Fall sports start approximately one week prior to school. More information will be available in the spring.
Financial Assistance: We encourage families with financial need to apply for this program. If your child has received a free or reduced lunch in the past, please note that the federal government requires that you reapply each year. You can access the application forms on the Sturgis website, however you must wait until the summer to apply. There are additional benefits for qualifying students including:
- Athletic fees
- School field trips
- School events, including proms and special events
- College Application Processing Services (CAPS)
Those who are in this program can rest assured that their information and participation are kept in the strictest confidence.

Where Are You Coming From?

Barnstable

Barnstable students have school bus transportation provided by the Barnstable School System. The Barnstable Transportation should be contacting you regarding bus routes prior to the end of the current school year. For more information, visit the Barnstable Transportation website.

Car Pools

If you are interested in connecting with other parents in your area for potential carpool options, please visit the Sturgis Parent Association Facebook. Parents looking for carpools can post on that site.

Student Discount Passes

Outer-Cape, Harwich, Chatham

There are bus routes to Sturgis from the Cape Cod Regional Transit. The Cape Cod Regional Transit has made all fixed route buses free of charge.

Orleans

Currently there is a CCRTA DART bus from Orleans to Sturgis. Please complete THIS FORM to express interest in this bus route. We will send a message in August to everyone who completes this form with instructions on how to register for the DAR bus route.

Plymouth and Sagamore

The Bridge Bus, a parent-funded commuter school bus that runs from Plymouth to Sagamore Beach and down to the Sturgis schools in Hyannis, has a few open seats this Fall. If you want to be on the list to receive information about the Bridge Bus, please fill out THIS FORM.
