Attention PARENTS OF JUNIORS:
On the morning of May 4 and the full day of May 7, ALL juniors will participate in the Collaborative Science Project, an IB requirement (see info below). It is imperative that all juniors are present on both of these days. Any students who miss a portion of the CSP will have to make it up with a project during their senior year. If you are scheduling a junior’s absence due to doctors’ appointments, etc. we ask that you avoid these dates if possible.
All IB science students must complete a Collaborative Science Project as part of the required IB science practical program. The following elements are expected from the Collaborative Science Project :
Interdisciplinary collaboration
Appreciation of the implications of science and the limitations of scientific study
Development of teamwork
Development of planning skills
Exchange or sharing of both data collected and issues raised
Approximately 10 hours of involvement time
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Alyssa Pohlman (apohlman@sturgischarterschool.org), Science Department Lead.
